Suna Clinchard, LMFT, PMH-C
I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals heal and create the life they want to live. I bring a warm, compassionate energy to therapy. Together we will create a connection that that feels comfortable, a foundation for your healing and growth.
I earned a Master of Science degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, with a Specialization in Medical Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale in 2000 and have been an LMFT in Florida since 2003. At the beginning of my career, I counseled children and families in several capacities, including the school system, therapeutic foster care, and non-profit agency work. I was also exceptional education educator in the elementary school setting for 7 years.
Since 2012, I have been in private practice in Melbourne, Florida, supporting individuals through major life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders.
I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health professional and I specialize in reproductive mental health, with issues ranging from contemplating pregnancy, fertility struggles, reproductive trauma, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, and pregnancy/ infant loss. I provide emotional support through pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood.
I’ve completed advanced training in perinatal mental health from the Touchstone Institute, Postpartum Support International, and the Postpartum Stress Center.
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist, and this lens informs my practice. EMDR therapy stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and is a an innovative, highly effective psychotherapy proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences.
I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and I offer consultation services for EMDR therapists. I have a passion for helping therapists develop and strengthen their confidence and skills as they integrate EMDR therapy into their practice. I especially love the combination of perinatal work with EMDR, and I enjoy collaborating with other therapists across the country who share my passion.
I also have a passion for teaching and mentoring. I am a training facilitator for foundational EMDR trainings and advanced EMDR trainings with the Touchstone Institute and the Institute for Creative Mindfulness.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family in nature and at the beach. I love music, walking, and traveling.
