    Contractual Agreement for Consultation

Welcome! I look forward to our consultation work together!

The purpose of this contract is to establish a clear understanding of the expectations of consultation. My role, as Consultant, is to help you, the Consultee, understand the technical aspects of integrating EMDR into the overall case conceptualization and treatment plan, as well as linking you to resources that may be helpful in your EMDR work with specific cases.

There are several different reasons a consultee seeks consultation. Prior to beginning our work together, please let me know what your intentions for consultation are.

_To complete the 10 hours of consultation to meet EMDR basic/ foundational training requirements

_To build confidence/ skillset with using EMDR, but not for EMDRIA credentialing purposes

_To achieve the EMDRIA Certification (EMDRIA currently requires a minimum of 20 hours of consultation, 10 of which must be Individual Consultation, prior to applying for Certification)

    Expectations of Consultant:

I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and a Certified EMDR Therapist.

Consultation is educational. The goal is for the Consultant is to assist consultees with increasing skills    and competency in utilizing EMDR. I will do my best to understand Consultee’s specific goals of consultation and will assist in helping you meet those goals. I will make efforts to provide a safe and supportive learning environment, encouraging your growth and confidence in your EMDR practice.

Consultation is not supervision. Consultation should not substitute for foundational psychotherapy skills. Consultation focuses on mastery of standard EMDR therapy and integrating EMDR into your practice. As a consultant, I do not hold liability for how you practice

I will document and track our time spent in consultation, and I encourage Consultee to do the same. Following each consultation session, I will email you validation of your consultation time. Please keep this for your records.

I encourage Consultees to seek consultation from other EMDRIA Approved Consultants especially if they have a specialty area that fits the Consultee’s needs.

I will keep abreast of current trends and changes with EMDR and trauma treatment. I will provide Consultees with new information and accommodate your needs, within my scope of knowledge. I will refer to other consultants if your needs are beyond my scope.

I actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity and celebrate all forms of families. I welcome the unique contribution that you bring to the consultation process and strive to create a space where you feel comfortable speaking openly and asking anything.

    Expectations of Consultee:

Consultee is expected to come to consultation prepared to present case material, complete with Consultee’s notes on that case. Cases will be presented using the case presentation format. Consultee is required to maintain confidentiality on cases shared.

Video-taped sessions of your work may be necessary.

For consultees working toward EMDRIA Certification:

If you are seeking consultation toward EMDRIA Certification, I will be evaluating your proficiency and fidelity to the standard EMDR therapy and your awareness of situations in which modifications to standard EMDR therapy are necessary in order to safely and effectively treat the client.

To meet certification requirements, I will request that Consultee video sessions so that we may, together, evaluate you work. Consultee is to obtain the necessary releases from clients. The Consultee is being evaluated, therefore the video must include the Consultee.

I will write a letter of recommendation only if Consultee has acquired the skills and knowledge base to be certified and can demonstrate this. I will provide an open forum for us to discuss issues as they arise especially if Consultee is having difficulty.

    Payment & Cancellation Policy:

48-hour notice of cancellation is required. If cancelling prior to 48 hours of your scheduled time, your payment may be applied to another individual or group consultation.

Payment is required at the time of booking consultation. Payment for consultation services assumes that you have read and agree to the terms in this contract.
